Frequently asked questions

How much does a commission cost?

Most paintings fall within the ranges in the size & price guide above. Your final price depends on complexity, the number of subjects, and the background. You'll always get a quote before you pay anything.

How long will it take?

Most commissions are finished within 3–4 weeks of payment. If you need your painting by a certain date, like a birthday, wedding, or Christmas, mention it in the form and I'll let you know if it's possible.

Can I give a commission as a gift?

Yes! A commission gift card is emailed instantly, to you or straight to the recipient on the date you choose. They pick what they'd like painted and use the code when they pay their invoice. It's the perfect gift when there isn't time for a painting to be finished before a holiday.

What photos should I send?

Clear, well-lit daytime photos work best. For homes and buildings, a straight-on photo plus a few different angles is ideal. Let me know if you'd like anything left out, like cars or trash cans. You can also send more than one photo to combine people or pets into one painting.

Can you paint people or pets?

Yes! I paint homes, churches, wedding venues, people, and pets. People can be painted faceless or with facial features. Facial features add detail and may affect the price.

Can I get my painting matted or framed?

Yes, matting and framing are available for every commission for an additional cost, based on the size and type of frame.

Mats: Unless you request otherwise, paintings are matted in a warm white to match the watercolor paper, sized as follows:

  • 5×7 → 8×10
  • 6×6 → 8×8
  • 6×8 → 8×10
  • 8×8 → 12×12
  • 8×10 → 11×14
  • 9×12 → 12×16
  • 11×14 → 16×20
  • 12×18 → 18×24
  • 18×24 → 24×30

Frames: I order frames through The Rusty Roof frame shop in Sebastopol, MS. Browse their frames at therustyroof.com and let me know which one you'd like.

Do you ship, or deliver locally?

Both. I offer local delivery in the Madison area and can ship your painting to you. Delivery or shipping will be included in your quote.

How do I pay?

Once you approve your quote, I'll email you an invoice you can pay securely online. For larger pieces, payment can be split into a deposit and a final payment.

Can I order a size that isn't listed?

Absolutely. Sizes aren't limited to the ones in the guide. Just mention the size you have in mind in the form.

Do you work with realtors?

Yes! A painting of a client's new home makes a lasting closing gift. See closing gifts for realtors for popular sizes, timing, and partner pricing.
